10 Mar The Fat Bet
Ever since we thought of opening Chai Bar, we’ve always been thinking of the best way to help people, and especially Malaysians, realise that changing our diet can lead to a lot of awesomeness in our lives – you’ll feel better and look better, and have your confidence boosted up by a factor of 10! And one day, we got it! We’ll gain a lot of weight and challenge ourselves to lose it all. So, over the past year, Edward and I have been steadily munching away, putting all kinds of oily and junky food in our mouths (much to the ire of our parents and friends). Working late nights and all the stress from running your first F&B business definitely made it easier to down another ‘roti and teh tarik’ 🙂
And it’s finally time to announce our first Fat Bet! For the next two months, Edward and I will be competing with each other to see who can lose the most body fat. The loser, unfortunately will have to shave all his hair off and (darn) write the word ‘LOSER’ on it. Talk about ultimate humiliation.

If you’re curious, we took our weights in our favourite gym, Anytime Fitness, which is just up the stairs from us 🙂 They’ve got a mean machine called the InBody 570, which tells us how much we weigh – fat, muscle, water and all. Hell, it even tells us if our right arm is stronger than the left one. Awesome!
Over the next two months, we’ll give you a bi-weekly update of what we’re eating and how we’re working out. We’ll also be posting our weight charts for the world to see. Yup, this is as close to reality TV as it gets at Chai Bar. Food wise, you’re going to see Edward and I eating mostly salads at Chai Bar because (shameless plug) Chai Bar’s salads are just the perfect health crack – they’re low carb, paleo, filling and easy to customise for our own needs.
Since Edward currently has a bad back, you’ll be seeing only me at the gym. Edward, will be mostly doing cardio stuff like brisk walking. Well, at least this way, you’ll be able to see how just changing the way you eat can help you lose some crazy weight. Our guys from anytime Fitness, Jack and Yuwa, will be advising us all the way on our nutrition and workouts (they’re our Biggest Loser coaches). Say hi!
Watch our blog for the next two months as we eat our own salads and huff and puff at the gym to try to return to our original healthy weight or even better, top that and look smokin’ hot.
